2005 Mercurey Rouge From Domaine Naltet Pere et Fils

2005 Mercurey Rouge From Domaine Naltet Pere et Fils

Sometimes, you buy a wine that is simply delicious to drink and a bargain.  The simple Mercurey village rouge from Domaine Jeannin-Naltet Pere et Fils from 2005 is one of these wines.  2005 was an excellent year in Burgundy, to be sure, but at less than €10 per bottle, their everyday red is rewardingly multi-dimensional and lingers longer than you might expect.  It bears a nice balance between its fruit and earthy flavors, and leaves you feeling like you’ve tasted something someone made personally, not something fabricated from a formula.  This wine is a nice example of why the simple, local wines can be the most rewarding, no matter if you live in France, Italy, Spain or Chile.  Great little Pinot at a bargain price.  We want to visit their domaine to find out more about their handiwork with grapes.
